Aika Maeda is the world’s first nostalgia photographer, working across photography and visual storytelling, shaped by a multidisciplinary background in psychology, criminology, marketing, and experience as an NGO Events Manager supporting migrant women in Austria.

Originally from Osaka and based in Vienna, she creates imagery rooted in memory, inner peace, and human behavior, illustrating the discovery of nostalgia within us. Her work is an ongoing study of emotion and stillness, translating transient lived experience into enduring visual memory structures that feel both deeply personal and universally familiar.

Her practice moves between personal exploration and commissioned projects, always guided by a pursuit of emotional coherence: images that do not merely depict life, but function as reflective surfaces for embodied memory and the phenomenology of recollection.

She calls this "Emotional Time Travel."
